AMC HMS Cheshire was completed in July 1927 as the passenger ship Cheshire for Bibby Brothers & Co, Liverpool. On Aug 1939 was requisitioned by the Admiralty and converted to the armed merchant cruiser. HMS Cheshire was one of the Amc’s along with BULOLO, CANTON, CILICIA, DERBYSHIRE  and DUNNOTTAR CASTLE deployed at Freetown and other South Atlantic bases with the task for Convoy escort and patrol duties. She was broken up at Newport in July 1957.
